Saudade Note

Tell me, George.
Why doesn’t sunrise last all morning?
Why doesn’t a cloudburst last all day?
I’m not assured if white is good for me or
black is not.
Tell me, if it’s not always going to be this grey, then
what shade will it be, George?

I believe so, George.
I believe so.

I want to know, George.
Why doesn’t sunset last all evening? But I think
I’ve lost my mind, I can’t blow those clouds away.
I’m not convinced if any shades will ever
go with me.
That, if it’s not always going to be this grey.

I believe so, George.
I believe so.
I do believe that none of life’s strings
can last.
That I must be on my way and face
another day.

But John ever asked
how could he go forward when he didn’t know
which way he was facing? How could he go forward when he
didn’t know which way to turn?

It’s true, John, I’ve been there.
How can we all go forward into something
we’re not sure of?
John, these branches I don’t know which to hold are tangled like
it’s the worst you could ever imagine.

John, you couldn’t be more right for saying that we know life
can be long,
and we got to be strong,
and the world is so tough.

I do feel it too, John. Really.
That sometimes I feel
I’ve had enough!

But it’s about what George ever said
again, John, that the darkness only stays the night-time.

John,
I believe we will see
that in the morning it will fade away.
Daylight is good at arriving at the right time, like George said.

It’s not always going to be this grey, though I’m still not sure if I’ll ever…

Well. I don’t know, though, George.
How can I feel something if I
just don’t know how to feel,
right, John?

What I know is I just want to believe

that in spite of all the turmoil,
someday we all can finally
get away from here…
